Not everyone can travel for vacation. That’s why we are proud to offer a truly unique family get away at a price that will not break the bank. Located in the Sandhills Region of North Carolina, Camp Durant offers camping opportunities to Boy Scouts of America registered individuals and families as well as to Family Adventure Campers. Whether you choose to hangout in camp or venture out to the surrounding communities, there is something to do for everyone. Camp Durant is excited to offer the opportunity to explore the amazing program that Scouting has to offer. We do not want to compete with your family vacation; We want to BE your family vacation.

Who can Camp at Camp Durant Family Adventure Camp?

Camp Durant is always open to registered members of the Boy Scouts of America.  The purpose of Family Adventure Camp is to serve additional families in the great outdoors.  Thus, in addition to BSA registered members, we are making this opportunity available to families that home school, live in Moore County and are considering joining the BSA. Please understand that we cannot accommodate adult-only, non-BSA registered groups and reserve the right to refuse registration requests that may not meet our guidelines.

Are you looking for your next family vacation?  Is your family ready for adventure?  BSA’s newest camping program has everything you and your family need to make long lasting outdoor memories together.  From swimming to hiking to kayaking to sailing and simply sitting by the campfire, the newest location of BSA Family Adventure Camp is at the Occoneechee Scout Reservation – Camp Durant. There is outdoor adventures for your entire family!

Your family can come for just a few days or even a week.  For the week of July 4th – 10th we are opening our facilities for family fun and adventure.  Pick the experience and fun that your family wants!  With tents and cots already set up, plus food service availability, there is no need to purchase expensive camping gear. Camp Durant Family Adventure Camp offers flexible schedules that give your family the chance to build your adventure, choosing from activities at camp, around the area or simply relaxing together in the outdoors.  Camp Durant Family Adventure Camp has adventure for every age!  Grandparents, parents, and children of all ages will be able to enjoy the magic and adventure together.

Will there be Scouting Advancement opportunities available?

No, organized advancement is not available this week. This opportunity is about coming out and enjoying camp!

What amenities are available at Camp Durant?

At Camp Durant, we have 15 campsites with 30 shelters. All shelters have electricity. Each campsite has a bath house with flush toilets and hot showers, all have individual lockable stalls.  EVERY Program area is fully staffed.  Our Trading Post and Grill give you a chance to get a souvenir and a Slush Puppy.  Wi-Fi is available in and around most buildings.  We have an EMT on site 24 hours a day.  Meal plans are available inside our 10,000 sq foot, fully air-conditioned Grand Lodge.  If your group has refrigeration needs, we recommend bringing a cooler.  The Camp Durant Ice Company has great ice at a nice price.  We have washer/dryers available for use, but you must provide your own detergent.

What water activities can I enjoy at Camp Durant?

Camp Durant has a private 75-acre lake. Our recently remodeled swimming dock has areas for non-swimmers, beginners, and swimmers. Swimming is not allowed anywhere else on the lake.  Lifeguards are on duty when the waterfront is open.  Fishing, canoeing, kayaking, small boat sailing, paddle boarding, swimming, and wading are all available. Life jackets must always be worn when boating. Children must always be supervised, as there is much shoreline throughout the camp.

Where can I find the Terms of Service and Camp Rules?

We strive to provide a wholesome camping experience for our Scout units and families. As such, our camp rules have been developed with youth protection as our guiding principle. Please carefully review the Terms of Service and Camp Rules. Being aware of the rules will help us avoid any issues upon check-in and during your stay. What is your COVID-19 Mitigation Policy?

We are committed to having policies in place to make camp as safe as possible for Scout groups, families, and our staff.  With your commitment to follow these policies, we believe we can offer a great camping experience during these challenging times. Anyone found not following COVID-19 mitigation procedures will be asked to leave camp without a refund.

Important Note: Precautions cannot fully eliminate the potential for exposure to COVID-19 or any other illness while at Camp Durant.  Persons with COVID-19 may show no signs or symptoms of illness, but can still spread the virus, and people may be contagious before their symptoms occur.  It is possible that someone with COVID-19 may pass the required health screenings and be allowed into camp.  Every staff member, volunteer, Scout, and family must evaluate their unique circumstances and make an informed decision before booking at Camp Durant.  You can read more information here:
